Web and Callie Beebe: Escondido Connection
1946 – 1957
Hidden Lake Ranch would finally have close ties to Escondido when the ranch and property was bought by Webster and Callie Lee Beebe. In January of 1946, Web Beebe, a young pharmacist from Oregon purchased an Escondido drug store becoming the owner and operator of Beebe Rexall Drugs on Grand Avenue until 1958. Hidden Lake Ranch now had owners who were closely connected to the Escondido community. As business expanded for Web Beebe, he became active in many local organization such as Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Kiwanis. His wife Callie Lee also became active in the Escondido community. The Beebe's entered into a property exchange agreement with Lillian and Otto Berk for their lots located in Del Mar.
After a few years, pharmacist Beebe and family left the coast and returned to the Del Dios area. They purchased another property in Del Dios and constructed an adobe home on their 262 acres in 1960.
